An extraordinary place to work

Missing People is incredibly proud to be 14th in the prestigious Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For 2019. This reflects the ongoing work of everybody at the charity to make Missing People a great place to work. We recently achieved a Best Companies 3 Star ‘Extraordinary’ accreditation following a survey which revealed that:

  • 100% of staff agreed the charity is run on strong values;
  • 96% said people in their teams go out of their way to help them;
  • 89% said they were inspired by our CEO Jo Youle.
  • 100% said they feel proud to work here.

We are not complacent, however, and are always looking for ways to improve employees’ experiences through the CEO’s meetings with new starters, staff surveys and our suggestion box.

This is a fantastic time to join Missing People. Our strategic plan aims to double of the number of people we help by 2022 and includes an exciting digital project to develop new ways to reach and help even more missing adults, children and their families.

You’ll be involved in challenging and rewarding work which makes a difference to people affected by the issue of missing. Find out more about the impact of our work here.

Working for Missing People means living our values.  It’s a place where managers are encouraged to ‘let fly’ so you can ‘make things happen’.  We know you’re more than just a job title, and ‘be human’ is an important value here.

You will find plenty of scope for personal development including:  getting involved in cross-charity projects; leadership development or volunteer management; training; e-learning; and hearing about the latest topics from some of our amazing partners.  Hot on the heels of her successful TEDx talk, our CEO has even coached small groups of staff with their presentation skills.

Missing People is a friendly and supportive place to work.  If you are based at our London offices or just visiting, our kitchen is a relaxing place to chat with colleagues, with fruit and drinks available.

There is a calm room for our helpline team to use when they take a break from the phones and texts.  Our social committee regularly arranges activities including our Volunteer Week and end of year parties.  You can get involved in our inspiring challenge events with colleagues to raise awareness and funds for the important work the charity does.
